PLANTSWOMAN'S GARDEN, PUTNEY HILL

Our client is a keen gardener with a wonderful eye for colour and composition and wanted more space in her garden to fill with plants. She also needed a space to relax or dine in the evenings along with a spot for a cup of coffee in the morning. Big ask for a small garden! We worked closely together to establish the layout, defining the material choice to complement her beautifully finished home and to create some movement across the space.

A small circular deck laid with smooth, oak boards is located in the morning sunshine and surrounded by planting. A path of sandstone setts curves through the planting to a little seating area at the back of the garden, perfect for entertaining in the evening. The seating area is enclosed by a contemporary pergola, which now supports a succession of flowering plants all summer.

The planting palette across the space oozes with sultry glamour, with deep pinks and purples taking the lead. The glamour is lit up at night with subtle garden lighting creating a wonderful atmosphere in which to entertain.
